Adrian Chu Redmond, born in New York City, currently resides in Charlotte, NC with her husband and three children. Some of her fondest childhood memories include going out to restaurants with her family of six, where her mother would hand out paper and pencils to her and her three sisters and have them “draw something without letting the pencil leave the paper.” Thus began the flow of creative energy, and not one girl followed the traditional doctor route like their father.
Ever since those days at the restaurants, Adrian stayed interested in art, but she never had the chance to formally take a class until a couple of years ago, when her three children became teenagers. Adrian says the best thing about her art is that it is her “therapy", and she is careful not to burden herself with any expectations. She especially enjoys oil painting and using the “right side of her brain” (the creative, wild side). Michelangelo’s quote captures how she views life: “Lord, grant that I may always desire more than I can accomplish”.
When not in the midst of her children’s many sporting events, she spends time giving back to the community. Whether it be participating in a 40 mile Lance Armstrong for the fight against cancer bike ride, working to open a women’s chapter for the Charlotte Jimmy V Foundation against breast cancer, or working as a case contact worker for PDS Cares (a volunteer group that help families in need at Providence Day School), she always makes it a point to stay active.
Adrian’s paintings have been represented at Red Sky Gallery (Charlotte, NC) and Hacker Studio Gallery (Charlotte, NC). Her artwork can currently be purchased at Sanctuary of Davidson (Davidson, NC) and on Hacker Studio's Virtual Gallery.
Adrian's modt resent Art Show was at The Cocktail Club in Charleston, NC.
